Here some of the shows:Candy Matson was the private eye star of Candy Matson, YUkon 2-8209, an NBC West Coast show which first aired in March 1949 and was created by Monty Masters. He cast his wife, Natalie Parks, in the title roleof this sassy, sexy PI. Her understated love interest, Lt. Ray Mallard, was played by Henry Leff while her assistant and best pal, aptly named Rembrandt Watson, was the voice of Jack Thomas.Every show opened with a ringing telephone and our lady PI answering it with "Candy Matson, YU 2-8209" and then the organ swung into the theme song, "Candy". Each job took Candy from her apartment on Telegraph Hill into some actual location in San Francisco. The writers, overseen by Monty, worked plenty of real Bay Area locations into every plot.Candy was bright, tough, and fearless. She used her pistol infrequently, but was unintimidated by bad guys, regardless of circumstances. Threats, assaults, and even bullets would usually produce a caustic, but clever, response for this blonde sleuth. She and Mallard were frequently working the same case, but she usually solved it first.OTR experts generally agree that this show was the finest of all the female PIs. Although the show ran until May 1951, it never attracted a sponsor (although the first season's final episode ended with the announcement that "Candy Matson Is San Francisco's Most Popular Program").The Phyl Coe Mysteries was a syndicated radio series that came out in 1936, with the lead character's name designed to reflect the sponsor, Philco Radio Tubes. PHYL (short for Phyllis) COE is described as the "beautiful girl detective". She was a private investigator who was smart, aggressive, and a "take-charge" lady. In one episode where a magician is shot on stage, Phyl, who is attending the performance, with her boy friend, leaps to the stage, barks orders to theatre personnel, and solves the crime before the cops even get there. In other mysteries, she identifies the thief of a famous painting, solves the mystery involving a new death-ray gun, and solves a murder aboard an aeroplane.Mercedes McCambridge star as lawyer in Defense Attorney in defending the defenseless. She was born in Joliet, Illinois, the daughter of Irish American Catholic parents Marie (née Mahaffry) and John Patrick McCambridge. She graduated from Mundelein College in Chicago before embarking on a career. She began her career as a radio actor during the 1940s while also performing on Broadway. Her radio work in this period included her portrayal of Rosemary Levy on Abie's Irish Rose and various characters on the radio series I Love A Mystery in both its West Coast and East Coast incarnations (most notably as "Charity Martin" in The Thing That Cries in the Night, "Nasha" and "Laura" in Bury Your Dead, Arizona, "Sunny Richards" in both The Million Dollar Curse and The Temple of Vampires and "Jack 'Jacqueline' Dempsey Ross" in The Battle of the Century). She frequently did feature roles on the CBS Radio Mystery Theater, and was an original cast member on The Guiding Light, before the Bauers took over as the central characters. She also starred in her own show, The Defense Attorney as Martha Ellis Bryant.Kitty Keene, Inc. was the only soap opera to have a private eye in the leading role (unless you want to count radio's Perry Mason). This series ran for four years, beginning in September 1937. It was sponsored by Dreft and was on CBS for one year and Mutual for the remaining three. Like most soaps, it was a 15-minute serial.Through the years, at least three actresses played KITTY KEENE: Beverly Younger, Gail Henshaw and Fran Carlon. Day Keene shared the script writing responsibilities with Wally Norman. Kitty was an "ex-Follies gal" who started her own detective business, although since this was a soap, it took her umpteen weeks to solve each crime. In the four surviving episodes, Kitty sounds tough but tender, with no clue to her age. However by the fourth year on the air, her grown daughter had given birth so this may also be radio's only grandmother detective. No pushover even then, Kitty berates a grand jury who almost exonerated a rackets boss, and gets an indictment.SHOWS LISTDISC 1Ann of the Airlanes 1935 ep07-Ann Wants To Be An Air HostessAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep08-Aunt Hattie Stows AwayAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep09-Jacks Brother Tries To HelpAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep10-Doc Heads A Smuggling RingAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep11-Just Before The HurricaneAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep12-The Hurricane HitsAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep13-Is Jack Working For The Secret ServiceAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep14-Jack Needs The Secret Radio FrequencyAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep15-The Secret Runway In The EvergladesAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep16-Ann Meets Up With JackAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep17-Pete Takes OffAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep18-Ann Is Lost In The EvergladesAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep19-Zeb Makes A Parachute JumpAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep20-Jack Wonders Who Was In The ParachuteAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep21-Ann Hides In The PlaneAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep22-Pete Suspects DocAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep23-The Foreigner Who Walks With A LimpAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep24-Overhearing A MessageAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep25-Ann Is DiscoveredAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep26-Ann And Jack PrisonersAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep27-The Piece Of PaperAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep28-Is Doc Really The Head Of The Smuggling RingAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep29-Jack Lands The PlaneAnn of the Airlanes 1935 ep30-Carp In The OceanCandy Matson 49-04-04 (Audition) The Donna Dunham CaseCandy Matson 49-07-07 The Cable Car CaseCandy Matson 49-09-23 The Fort Ord StoryCandy Matson 49-09-30 The Devil in the Deep FreezeCandy Matson 49-12-10 Jack FrostCandy Matson 49-12-17 Valley of the MoonCandy Matson 49-12-27 NC9-8012Candy Matson 50-02-07 Eric Spaulding ConcertCandy Matson 50-06-20 Symphony of DeathCandy Matson 50-08-29 The Movie CompanyCandy Matson 50-09-12 The Egyptian AmuletCandy Matson 50-11-26 San Juan BautistaCandy Matson 51-04-29 Candys Last CaseCandy Matson 52-09-21 (Audition) The Fortune TellerCarolyn Day, Detective - Audition 01 of 06Carolyn Day, Detective - Audition 02 of 06Carolyn Day, Detective - Audition 03 of 06Carolyn Day, Detective - Audition 04 of 06Carolyn Day, Detective - Audition 05 of 06Carolyn Day, Detective - Audition 06 of 06Kitty Keene Inc 39-01-20 Jill & Kitty At HospitalKitty Keene Inc 39-04-05 Jill On Trial TomorrowKitty Keene Inc 39-04-08 Kitty Speaks to Grand JuryKitty Keene Inc xx-xx-xx No Word From Kitty in NYCMeet Miss Sherlock 460707 - Case Of The Deadman's ChestMeet Miss Sherlock 460912 - Wilmer & the WidowPhyl Coe Mysteries 37-09-07 (01) The Dead MagicianPhyl Coe Mysteries 37-09-14 (02) Missing MasterpiecePhyl Coe Mysteries 37-09-21 (03) Mystery Of The Death Ray TubePhyl Coe Mysteries 37-09-28 (04) Murder In The SkyPhyl Coe Mysteries 37-10-05 (05) Death Boards The Sea SerpentPhyl Coe Mysteries 37-10-12 (06) Double X MysteryPhyl Coe Mysteries 37-10-19 (07) Last Will and TestamentPhyl Coe Mysteries 37-10-26 (08) Stolen SablesPhyl Coe Mysteries 37-11-02 (09) Who Murdered Senator FloydPhyl Coe Mysteries 37-11-09 (10) Laughing GhostPhyl Coe Mysteries 37-11-16 (11) The Fallen StarPhyl Coe Mysteries 37-11-23 (12) Jagged Rock MysteryDISC 2Defense Attorney 510417 00 Audition as The Defense Rests - Joe MorianoDefense Attorney 510810 06 Marcus MorianoDefense Attorney 510817 07 Peter LynchDefense Attorney 510824 xx Grady DanielsDefense Attorney 510831 08 Mike TullyDefense Attorney 510914 10 Hot Rod Accident (aka-Client - Jim Leonard)Defense Attorney 520313 36 Thomas RichardsDefense Attorney 520410 40 Joshua MastersDefense Attorney 520417 41 Client Joseph MorelanoDefense Attorney 520828 60 George BaughmanDefense Attorney 520911 62 Jim NelsonDefense Attorney 520918 63 Thomas Kennedy and Jethro LesterDefense Attorney 521009 66 Edith LarkinLady in Blue 51-05-05Lady in Blue 51-05-12Murder Clinic 42-09-22 (10) The Scrap Of LaceBe Aware: MP3 CD WILL NOT PLAY IN REGULAR CD PLAYERS.
